Craft ideas for the Holidays

My daughter Charlotte and I have decided that it is time to start preparing the Christmas decorations. We are not decorating yet! I’ve also drawn out some poppies that we are gonna put up in the mean time. Here is some more info for those who want to read more on why Christmas season should start after Remembrance Day and join the discussion here:

Anyway, this all started around Halloween when we drew some pictures, coloured them in, and cut them out before pasting them to the windows. But why stop there? I’ve come up with the simple idea to create our own home decorations for this Christmas season too. It is certainly not too ambitious a task…

I got her some safe scissors from Toys R Us (Crayola brand) and drew some pictures of snowflakes for a start. I actually copied the design of some cookie cutters that we already own. The smaller inside patterns are from a stencil that accommodated a Disney’s Frozen colouring activity book we got her months ago. She is totally into cutting right now so I am not going to stop that creative train.

This is going to be fun! It already is. I am planning on doing a large Christmas tree design that we will paint and decorate with colour and ‘ornaments’ made from scraps of paper and glued onto the ‘tree’. Maybe we will even include some poppies, who knows. The ideas are limitless!

I know you have some suggestions or ideas, so please feel free to share them in the comments box below!

Thank you for reading, I will keep updating this post as we go along…
