Holiday Craft Ideas: Continued

I am super excited about this holiday season. I don’t know why, but I suddenly felt a new sense of purpose after the first snowfall. Growing up in South Africa we had celebrated Christmas every year at my Grandma’s. It was filled with singing, feasting, and unwrapping presents. Pretty standard Christmas festivities one can say. There lacked only 2 things: build-up, and snow.

My mind is racing with all sorts of ideas. The first of many being our first holiday craft session. Next is homemade eggnog. A gingerbread village. Who knows what may follow. Wait a minute, is this what an episode of mania feels like?

We’ve come this far. The tree is up, coloured and coated in the most amazing expression of what it means to be 2 1/2 years old. The ornaments are ready, and just lacking a little glue and presentation. But we’ll get there. Overall I think it looks pretty dandy!

There will be more. The possibilities are endless. Our home will have this corner decorated ‘by Charlotte, for Everyone’. Hopefully she is as excited about it as I am!

Now that I am an adult (and get to be that kid again sometimes with my daughter) there will be build-up. Now that I live in Canada, there will be snow. And lots of it!

Also, as a young family we also want to carve out our own traditions.

Whatever these may come to be, I believe working at it makes it a memory in and of itself.
